Meet Classic Haute Couture at Metropolitan Museum of Art

You will never realize that your great grand mothers wore some of the best dresses even in the era when designer concept was unknown. More than eighty examples of classic haute couture and high fashion from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's are being displayed under Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection until August 15.

Most of these masterpieces were out of the public view for more than thirty years. This exhibition aims to explore the perceptions of modern American women from 1890s to the 1940s and their influence on current generation. It seems to establish connection between American women's style revolutions and their social and political changes.

It studies the role of fashion in defining how American women have been represented historically. The exhibition takes back women into the past and it has been brought to life with hand painted panoramas which has been animated by video, music and lighting.
